I drove my car for a year with the same K&N air filter on my AEM CAI. I bought a Filter Cleaner and Regenerator kit for it from the K&N site. It comes with a cleaner and oil to properly clean it. It worked well for me, no need to spend money on a new filter, just pick up the kit and it should suit you just fine.
