Legacy 03
2000 miles and only 3 weeks old. I have an old 90 legacy with 238000 miles on it and it seemed to have more power. Then again I think the curb weight on the new one is more so no lost feelings there. I want to put a small turbo on it so I can eliminate some of the honda's and Acura's in the area. I know in the '90 I used to eat eclipses and civics alive (even with 150000 miles
) Any Ideas would help.

I was wondering the same thing. Just got a 2003 2.5GT yesterday, and I'm dying to start some tweaking. Im a little dissapointed with the power too Paladin. The 2.5 Legacy Outback my father used to have seemed to have a lot more balls (with a 5 speed mind you). However, the 2.5GT has a sport shifter that I want to make the most out of. Any recomendations on a good intake or exaust (or anything else) available in Canada would be greatly appreciated.

Russ_T, I don't think the problem lies with the amount of power just the fact that the car is so damn heavy. I have the Special edition with the five speed(didn't have the money for the GT
) I know back in the day Iceman made a nice intake system for the older legacys. I am eventually looking to get That and possibly a custom exhaust (from the headers back). I did notice that the manual needs to be taken to about 1500 to 2000 rpm to get the car rolling without the car hopping as if I just learned how to drive. Hopefully the header back system with some nice borla mufflers will create a mean sounding note as well as improve the low end. I really wish the H-6 was available without having to go into the outback models. One other note for a heavy car, this thing is awesome in the curves (just gotta keep it above 3000 rpm).

I can say if, you want turbo power, you should not do NA mods first. Although it'll make your car a bit stronger, that money can go into the saving for the turbo kit.
Paladinwkh: Do you really have a '90 Legacy or a MY03? You don't just want to beat them because it'll get you into trouble. You can sort out a WRX turbo and custom it to your Leggy. You'll have to run light boost to ensure longativity. 5-6 PSI will out run most Civics. But beware of the Honda's with swaps. cobbtuning.com for NA power.. |

Yep, I have a 90 legacy L and a 2003 Legacy Lse. The 1990's racing days have come to a conclution because of the sketchy tranny and the fact that it has so many miles. The 2003, if I were to run a turbo, would have the crank, heads, cams, and all the things in between be beefed up. Im not like most of the other "Kids" in the area that bolt on the 50 shot NOS kits, a cheap exhaust and intake thinking, "hey I can run the motor hard all day long now and nothing will happen." If and when I do it it'll be done right. Just need to know where to get the stuff when the time comes. MY03? <-- do you mean the 2003 legacy? Its been a while.
