For all you 1/4mile guys.
Hey all i am planning on going to the track here pretty soon and have been practicing on my launches. What is the right way to do it/or most effective?? I have been reving up to not sure how many rpm's cause i dont have a tach. but prolly 2500-3500 and just dropping the clutch. Most of the time i just find my self spinning my tires WAY to much or atleast i think. Do i need to do the same and just lower rpms or what???
thanks-

You are not going to really know until you go to the track. I would suggest investing in a tach too. This will help you to be consistent on launches as well as knowing when to shift at redline. Around 2000rpm should be good though for your cavalier. Make sure at the tree you have the e-brake on so you don't roll forward. Once the last yellow comes on then slam the e-brake to the floor and at the same time punch the gas and let out the clutch. It will seem like you are spinning the crap out of the tires but thats naturally going to happen until you find a happy medium of launching.

Also I would suggest wrapping your intake with some heat wrap because that has got to get hot as hell. Otherwise your car is not going to consistent performance wise.

something that goes along w/ wrapping heat wrap ^, put some bags of ice from a speedway gas station or something on the intake between runs, makes a little difference. and if you're planning on running it alot that night, bring some anti-freeze too to top off.
post the times for us after u run |
