Fuel pump/filter or suggestions?

I got an 85 grand marquis. Was running fine then all of a sudden it's not starting. TUrns over but no ignition. I dumped some gas in the carb and it started but then died shortly after so i think maybe the fuel pump or the filter is bad. Anyone know where these are located before i start tearing into stuff? Or any other suggestions? THanks
