damn stuck crank...
i'm trying to turn the crank with a ratchet but it won't budge (my dad is telling me when i got hte car back from the shop they said the block was seized up). now how can i break it loose if its really seized, or will it not turn in its current state. right now i have the top half all off, and the oil pan and cover above the rod caps are off. and i'm trying to undo the caps and take out the pistons so i can change out the bearings and hopefully get my car runnin again. but i can't take everything out until i get it to TDC. lemme know what i can do.

If the engine is seized one or more pistons is most likely to be completely stuck solid.

try applying some liquid wrench where it meets the cylinder wall. That shit really does work good. I dunno though, thats just a suggestion.

well i have the block still in hte car so i have little room to work with, and even if its not needed at TDC it makes it alot easier. but i got it, i just cranked it by using the key to "turn it over" tho i know it wouldn't do anything. i just kept cranking it little by little until it broke loose.
go the pistons out too, and found the problem. the bearing in cyl 1 (i think thats the one on the far driver's side) was completely shot and the rod was bent too... never would i think that could look so good but i know now the problem, and i have spare parts for it too, i just hafta check the crank to see if the shot bearing messed up the surface on hte crankshaft... anything else i should check? and another off topic question, when i put it together, do i need to replace the piston rings? how do i tell if they are bad?
