Got a 1979 Espirit..

"Has 350, 4 speed auto, wont go into park, please tell me why?"
Body has no rust, got it from 1 owner, interior needs replacing, totaly shot, plan on removing rear seats, puting in a custom box with speakers, replacing front seats with racing buckets. If anyone knows a good placfe to buy Interior stuff in the North Western Washington/Canada area please tell me, I plan on doing everything myself.... Also would like advice on doing interior....

All the glass is there and in one piece *\/\/\/*no cracks. 350 ran like crap, my dad is a mechanic(useto be) and he told me that the old 350's will round out the cam, so I replaced the Cam, lifters and timing chain, runs like a champ, it has AC, but its all unhooked, but all still there... Exhaust is all good, no leaks. The car is over my dads, I havent seen it but one time. My dad got it for 400 and put 300 in work into it, cam, and stuff, I am gonna buy it from him next week for 700, I just wanted to know more about the car and especialy the tranny not going into park? Has anyone had this problem? Does anyone know what it is? I know nothing about tranny's.....So any info or comments would be great!
