Injectors
Is it a normal thing for injectors to get clogged over time and reduce your horsepower? Is it fairly easy to remove and clean them? I kind of doubt that injector cleaner that you put in the gas tank does a very good job. Thanks.

Well you are supposed to add that to your gas when you change your oil or 30,000 to prevent that from happening. It is by no means a liquid plumer type of thing. You could always replace them, used stock injectors are not hard to come buy, but as for cleaning them, I couldn't tell you. To remove them:
1. Relieve fuel pressure 2. Remove all vac. and fuel connections to the fuel rail (careful for leaking gasoline) 3. Unplug the injector harnesses 4. Remove the three nuts that hold the rail to the intake mani 5. Pull rail straight out and the injectors should come out with it, if not then just pull them out. 6. Make sure you replace or at least clean the injector o rings. 7. Install reverse of removal (it is easier to put the injectors into the rail, and then insert the whole assembley into the motor. |
