Question Help with engine code....

The code I'm pulling from my stock 97 Civic LX (non-Vtech 1.6) is:

System Too Lean - Bank 1.

Does anyone know what that can be? Whats happening is the car is stalling when it should be idling and I'm burning way too much gas.

I'm leaning toward the O2 sensor, but could use a 2nd opinion.

If there is not any other problem beside the code saying it's too lean then it should be the O2 sensor. It probably has too much carbon deposit covering the sensor that causes it to give a false reading.

most likely the O2 sensor not getting a good reading, and sending back to the ecu to run your a/f ratio leaned out.

replace it then reset the ecu to see if it goes away.

A little more info might help. If I start the car it idles fine, even if I give it a lot of gas. Once I put some strain on the engine by putting in gear and letting out clutch (even if I move a few inches) it will stall once I push in the clutch. After it stalls and I start it with the key it will run fine until strain is put back on it. If I start it by popping the clutch on the roll it will want to stall out again.
