Hi. I'm gonna buy new tires cheap from my friend.
But I DON'T need to replace current tires with new tires right NOW! I just ran 32k for 3 years. So, is it okay to stock new tires in my garage for about 1 year? Or are there problems after 1 year ? Please, let me know thanks. |

You should have no problems letting some tires sit around. Its when you leave them on a car & let it sit in the same spot for a long time, thats when you get flat spots.
I would apply some type of tire shine to the entire tire before letting them sit so the rubber does not dry out or crack. |

You shouldn't store them in the open. If you can put them in a large garbage bag or the ozone and sunlight will deteriorate the rubber making them hard.
Little racer's thing to keep tires fresh.

Thanks...
If so, which one would you recommend before letting tires sit ? Where can I buy it? Also, if possible, when is the optimal mileage for tire change (50k?, 70k?) ? thanks again.

Both bag them & spray them
you can buy garbage bags lots of places. Tire Shine you will find @ parts stores or auto section of a store. Foam kind is JUNK! only good for spaying in wheel wells Tires are advertised with 50K or 75K or whatever, this is under perfect conditions. Tire need to be rotated to prolong life & should be balanced every so often, not just when you get new tires. Alignments! Tires will wear differently depending on your driving habits. Tires I have should be good for 40K or something & I toast them in 1 weekend. Shit 10 minutes sometimes Visually you can tell a tire needs to be replaced by looking @ the wear indicators(little stubs between the grooves). Tire depth gauge is the best way to if you want accuracy. |
