suspension

ok I need all the info on suspension and chasis I can get, I'm pretty much clueless about most of it. I'm wondering about coil-overs, strut bars, anti-roll bars, ladder bar, fender bar, and tension/compression rods (T/C rods) any other info is great too.

I also want to have everyones opinion on who makes the best of each, and how much what you recommend costs(estimated costs are even helpful).

by the way, for a 91-93

cause that'll REALLY help you get answers...:

buying a suspension set-up is purely subjective on your behalf. it's what YOU want and what works best and fits your budget. who cares about brand names and what other people think? if an unknown company works better then a high-publicity one, then who cares if no-one else knows what it is?

very true answer. i work in a shop and se people come in and drop a wad or cash on a name when something cheap performs the same. certain things you get what you pay for though. and its all about what you want to do w/ your car

peoples opinions isn't all I asked for, I asked for info about a lot of things, I don't know what kinda benefits most of those things will give the car and which ones are worth buying and which you can't tell a difference in the car once you put it on. like I said I don't know much about suspension so I could use any info, although so far I've got none at all.

sway bars will greatly improve handleing by eliminating some flex. coilovers are awsome but some people dont like them for their daily driver. theyre not the best ride
if i were you(assuming you dont have gobs of money lying aroud) id get a nice set of springs and some good shocks(koni, bilstein, tokico ect) and id make a big diff>

strut tower bars will not make a noticable diff until you eliminate flex lower in the car by useing sway bars

I mod my suspension on all my STREET cars in this order:

1
Front strut tower brace
("boxes" the front suspension, adds rigidity, decreases body roll, chassis flex etc)
2
Shocks (KYB AGX would be my reccomendation for the 240) with whatever drop springs are cheap that week, all are pretty compariable..
Tein, Eibach, Intrax, cusco, suspension techniques, white line or maybe a suspension techniques add-on coil-over set-up which run about $399

or some brand specific ones, eg racing beat for RX-7, perrin for WRX, etc

3
then maybe sway bars... here would say to go for suspension techniques, white-line, cusco

I think a better way to answer this is for you to tell us what you plan to do with the car, and what you want, stiffer ride, lower, rail handling... and also what is your budget, and how many stages do you want to go..

By the way, I can get any part, cheaper than anybody our there, so let me know what you want and i can hook you up.

st doesnt make their coilovers anymore. but their springs are good.
and the sway bars will make a bigger diff first besause thats where most of the flex is. once you eliminate it down there then itll flex more up top so get strut tower brace

I don't care to battle anyone on prices, I hook people up w/o making anything for myself... And I doubt you can beat me.

As far as your comments go, you are incorrect, coming from a roadracing background i can tell you that on our cars, (240SX and RX-7's) there are things that will make a much bigger difference than the sway bars....

I am not being offensive or repugnant towards you (badicalradical) in anyway,

One example, is on my race car, where i actualy took the original rear sway bar completely off, and went a little bigger in the front.

I made a typo mentioning the ST coil overs, I actually meant to type, ground control. The ground control coil overs with the AGX shocks is a great deal for a street-driven, occasional track/strip car.

one thing to note, is a certain degree of chassis flex, depending on which vehicle, and to which degree can be a good thing... there are alot of factors to this statement, so don't try to flame me, unless you can keep up with me on a carosel, or on/off ramp...

Again, I feel that the thread starter should stop being so ambiguous and let us know better parameters of what he is looking for, and what budget(s) he has.

first of all what is ambiguous? second I don't even have a 24o yet so plans aren't for anything really soon, but I'll have a moderate size budget, I'm expecting atleast, but just say I decided to go for it all at the same time and get shocks, springs, strut tower brace, and sway bars. I want it lower, good handling but not too rough of a ride, I also would upgrade wheels and tires at the same time, preferably to 17x7 or 17x7.5, also I was kind of looking into the nismo power brace www.phase2motortrend.com/nispowbracs1.html anyone know anything about it?
