Re: What's The Difference Between Over And Understeer?

Quick and dirty definitions would be

Understeer is when the front of the car "pushes" through a turn. It basically is like the car won't turn.

Oversteer is where is feels like the back of the car is going to pass the front in a turn.

Or you can say that understeer is when you turn the wheel and the wheels don't fully grip, and the front end slides...so you don't turn as much as planned.

Oversteer is when the rear wheels slide, causing the rear end to come around, making you turn more than planned.

The combined effect is steering with both ends - The front with the steering wheel and the rear with the throttle. When you master that, the rest seems inconsequential. Dirt track racers do it in their sleep.

Re: What's The Difference Between Over And Understeer?

I prefer just a tad of understeer in my daily driving. I'm not in a race!
