1995 Camaro z28 Convertible

Hello, and hope someone here can answer this question. My convertible came with the covers for the top when down, I have read the owners manual and it doesn't say if its safe to put the back seat down and use the covers? The trunk doesn't have enough room for suitcases? If we use the trunk for suitcases then we have no place to store the covers when the top is up...just bought the car to replace on that my wife loved and I totalled when a lady ran a stop sign and T boned me...
