1996 Nissan hardbody xe 4x4 won’t crank

I put a new battery in today, it won’t crank I can hear the starter engage and the fuel pump come on but it doesn’t crank, none of my cabin light work,no dash lights,no head light,not even the hazard lights, the key ignition is a little worn,what could be the problem? Help lol

there are also some fusible links in battery cable by the battery, they can blow or corrode

I replaced them and soon as I touched the batter cable to battery they burnt.

you have a dead short somewhere or hooked the battery up backwards
