Best Intake?

OK this is not for a 4th gen but a civic none the less

my m8 has a B16A2 in his 1999 6th gen VTi

he is looking for a CAI as i said for him not to get a short ram K&N (almost everyone has em in the UK) and the CAI would give him better perfomance

does anyone know a good make to get, he doesnt have much cash, and goes for performance and not looks

Short ram will draw hot air into the motor, decreasing density and not combusting as well. You are actually better off with the enclosed factory box which is usually plumbed outside the engine bay along with a high flow oilable insert - I don't count the "cool sound" as a bonus from a pod, it's up there with Type R stickers as a performance "mod".

A CAI is a good move although you will see zero improvement at the wheels without other mods - it's part of a synergy between components and a big FUCK YOU to anyone who sits there and claims otherwise (hello to the Netherlanders reading, along with any other mag-racers ).

If you run a CAI, get ready to clean it a lot as it will pick up more dirt and there are also stories running around about hydro-locking your motor by pretending you're an amphibious vehicle (/me waves to the Club Si readers).

A good trade off is short ram to the original box mounting point - encased and sealed off from the engine bay, with 3 inch ducting drilled (and reinforced) to the front of the car. It may not have the "cool/wank" look, but it does work.
