06 4.2. VvT soleniod
Replaced VVT soleniod on Saturday. Ordered it from Rock,Auto, I believe it is a dorman brand. I have maybe put 50 miles on it so far and the engine light is still on. Took it tomato zone and it is still reading replace VvT soleniod. How long should it take for the computer to reset?
Thank you |

Re: 06 4.2. VvT soleniod
It could take up to 10 drive cycles, but it is possible that was not the problem, clear it see if it returns.

Re: 06 4.2. VvT soleniod
Okay VVT sensor still showing in codes, I have also replaced the crankshaft position sensor. "Took it to a shop to relearn the ignition process. It is also showing "Coolant temp, not up to regulating temp" So with that I am going to replace the Thermostat tonite. Was looking into replacing the ECT but it is in such a location on the passenger side of the block under the heat shield, that I don't know if I want to go to that point yet. Or anyone have any other ideas?I would post the codes but I am not sure where I put them at this point. After I replace the stat how many drive cycles might it take?

Re: 06 4.2. VvT soleniod
One...after you clear the computer code memory, which shuts off the SES light.

Re: 06 4.2. VvT soleniod
Replaced the thermostat took care of that issue.
Got another Dorman VVT from Rockauto. Replaced that again. Drove to work no engine light. Drove home from work(After 7 hours) no engine light. Truck sat overnight Engine light reappeared. I have replaced the VVT 2x, Crankshaft position sensor, took it to a shop to do the relearn process, they did not charge me for that ( so did they actually do it?). Should I replace the camshaft position sensor? I will be going to AutoZone tonight to have the codes read. Any other ideas? |

Re: 06 4.2. VvT soleniod
Perform the full diagnostic procedure as published in the service manual.
Or continue to replace parts at random.
