Possible Solution for the common lincoln LS trans problems
currently i have my 2001 lincoln ls in the shop. i've been reading alot of forums and trying to research a solution to alot of the problems the lincoln ls has with the trans
seems that most people cant find a solution, and i may not have yet either. but the mechanics and done a lot of troubleshooting, costing alot of money. and claimed to have pinned it down to one of two things. so to save you a little time and money if you own a LS, try one of the following i have been lead to. the solenoid pack is about 260 bucks new. and this is what they are trying tomorrow during the day. the computer can be replaced with a rebuilt computer for about 100 bucks. these are both fairly easy projects on your own. just takes a little time and effort, but over all saves you ALOT of money. the trans is currently stuck in 3rd gear, and brings up the E on the dashboard. same common problem most have. trans brings up every error code in the book for a trans, almost as if it's just not connected. so i hope this helps you if you have the problem in the future or currently. let me know if it does or if you may have found a better solution |

I haven't read that anyone has needed a new transmission computer to solve their solenoid issues yet, so that may not be the best bang for your buck. Am I missing the intent of your thread? -Rod |

Re: Possible Solution for the common lincoln LS trans problems
the thread was because i was trying to search for a solution to the transmission problem, and i couldn't find a exact answer for my occasion. the transmission shop replaced the solenoid pack today, and it did not solve it. they are replacing the computer tomorrow, and hoping it will solve it. the car does shift very hard into gears. almost enough to give whip-lash. it causes a severe head jerk.

Re: Possible Solution for the common lincoln LS trans problems
Some people pay good money to get transmissions to shift that firm.
![]() That's a bummer than the solenoid pack didn't fix the issue, hopefully the computer will. Good luck, and please keep the forum updated with progress. -Rod |

Re: Possible Solution for the common lincoln LS trans problems
haha, well i dont want it to shift that firm. i got the car back from the shop today. it wasn't the computer either. it ended up bein that one of the connections was bad on it like they had assumed in the first place. they said that they had to torque it down way over the specified torque. and idk why. now that i have the car back though, it's hesitant when accelerating and it takes around 5 seconds to shift into gear. so. i will be taking the car back tomorrow for them to fix yet again. seems like this is just beginning to be more of a headache than anything.

I have just had the same exact issue on my 2000 Lincoln L's V6 it was sluggish at take off and started shifting hard into reverse and displayed an E on the dash where it usually says what gear it is in. Also while driving it didn't seem that the transmission was shifting at all sluggish at take off and perfect around 40mph+ turns out it was the transmission solenoid in the fuse box on the left front passenger side of the car replace it and check the ECM FUSES AS WELL JUST IN CASE and AND BAM JYST LIKE THAT 0.00$ SPENT
