Question What is your connection speed (not OT)

In the last few months I have started making progress threads and loading them with pics. I have a high speed internet connection (satellite) and the other day it went out on me in a heavy rain. I never realized how slow the pages load on dialup until then, when I used my "back up" dial up account to log on. Just got me wondering, are most of you going through hell waiting on the pages to load?

You don't HAVE to reply, I've put a poll at the top so I can get a feel for the "average" users connection speed and whether or not I need to "downsize" my pics.

Thanks in advance for your input!

-Rick

I use two different computers. One with 56K and cable but I usually am on the one with 56K. Its really slow but I tolerate it but cant stand the sigs with huge pictures in them.

I hear ya Ghost! I've seen a few sigs with what looks like 640x480 pics in them! When I used my dial up (it only connects at 26,400) it was torture!

I use DSL-but I allways crop my photo's image size down to 30K or less so the folks with slower modems will be able to get the threads up faster. Just my

Right now I'm on dial-up @ 39.8K

I dont mind the progress and finished threads with nice high quality pics, but some of the sigs do get a little big. It's actually gotten to the point that I have them turned off and surfing has gotten much faster.

On 56k myself and I agree with you on the sig with huge pix in them - quite frankly I don't see the point of having them so large. Anyways, I've turned off the sigs so the pages load faster now.

I work for a telecomunication company, we support our own website and a webconferencing platform so we have a 2Mb/sec line.

Huge pics and sigs are not a problem for me.

I've got a high-speed link at work, but only 56k at home (with no sign of broadband to come, damn you BT).

Those bigger pics can take a VERY long time to load on a humble modem, so please guys, try and keep them as small as possible.
