Catalytic Converter problems

2000 Jimmy SLE 4WD 122K
Had lots of noise from exhaust system. One day the car had no acceleration after checking the vacuum, and the velocity of exhaust gas out the tail pipe, I cut the cat off the car. Replaced with straight piece of pipe with a few clamps. Then as expected, the engine light came on. Found a oxy sensor extender that mounts on the exhaust pipe, after the cat converter. Remove the oxy sensor, screw this piece in, then screw the oxy sensor into this, purchased amazon "Universal O2 Sensor Spacer Adapter Idolator Extender"
The car is louder, more pick up, engine light is not on. Only cost 20 dollars and about 1 hour work.
After removing the cat I could see a big piece of the honeycomb moving around in the front end of converter. I think this piece would randomly move around and restrict the exhaust causing loss of power.
Best car in the snow.

Re: Catalytic Converter problems

No emissions inspection in Mich.? Here in NY, even if the car passes the obd11 test it will fail the visual inspection.
