911 SC/RS Mashup

Hello All,

Starting with the chassis of a Tamiya 934 last year, I decided to build a "street" version. Then I tried putting a 930 Turbo body on it, planning to make it look like Magnus Walker's own early 930. I didn't like the impact bumpers, however, and sidelined the projected. Fast forward to the present: Scale Production RS 3.0 body in Tamiya Mica Blue:

Here are the wheels, which started out as 15" Campagnolos. They were enlarged to 16" by Michael Newport, AKA Wheelman, on Facebook as Buckeye Scale Auto parts.

Although this is a street car, it wears four 934 slicks, which I haven't finished detailing yet. The Idlers scrips are silly, I know; this car will have no RWB association. I just thought they were cool. Plus there will be some circuit-inspired influence, as you'll see...

I highly recommend this transkit for the Tamiya Porsches; it's a lot like the styrene body on which it's based, only prettier and without mold lines. It is very easy to work with and was prepared for paint in less than half an hour.

Re: 911 SC/RS Mashup

The interior began very humbly. I hacked everything out of the 934 tub and started with the basics. I did the same with the dash.

Time for a new floor:

And the beginnings of a new center console:

Re: 911 SC/RS Mashup

Some putty to even it out...(more boring pics)

And some color. This would become a "Singer-style" interior. Influenced by, but certainly not copied...

Because of the need for new door panels front and rear, I made some patterns and sandwiched some PE speakers in there. Which would have been really boring, had there not been a donor 959 around to donate its armrests.

As you can see, the dash was cleared off and the HVAC controls from a Fujimi kit were mocked up, along with an Aoshima Alpine head unit.

Anyway, the door panels were shaping up. Never mind that ugly center thing, which I trashed.

Next up, some seats from Clearly Scale, covered in medical tape (which at this magnification, look like my bathroom towels lol) and the revised, more three-dimensional dash.

Re: 911 SC/RS Mashup

Time for some better pics of the whole thing together:

Also has the signal stalks from a 959, a GT2 wheel, and a rollbar that I didn't quite properly modify. Ah well. It still needs pedals. The floor is painted gunmetal, though it looks black here.

Here's a mockup on my desk at work. Sorry about the distracting, unpainted resin wing, and general lack of matching decals and trim :b Much, much more to come, as I'm just getting started with the exterior. The 934 engine will be converted to use the basic twin-turbo setup from the GT2, so that I don't have to cut up the smooth RS rear valance. After going turbo I'll have to modify the wing a bit.

Thanks for looking and putting up with my awful pics! I'll replace these with better ones as the project progresses.
