Will 84 Cherokee master clyinder work with 4 wheel disc?
Does anyone here happen to know if I can use 4 wheel disk setup with the 84 Jeep Cherokee power brake master cylinder?
I can't seem to find an answer anywhere. Thanks, Ron |

Re: Will 84 Cherokee master clyinder work with 4 wheel disc?
The answer is: "sort of". The brake fluid pressures with drum brakes are much lower than for disk brakes. So the 84 master cylinder would only supply a couple of hundred psi to the rear end, but up to 1200 psi to the front end. Therefore your rear brakes (with disks instead of drums) wont be doing much when you want to stop in a hurry. On dry pavement you might never notice the difference. On a slick (wet or frozen surface) the car might want to go out of control in an panic stop.
Also the brake-warning-light module that is probably at the bottom of the firewall, might be turning the brake light on - due to differences in fluid pressure and fluid volume displaced through it. |

I'm using that setup on 41 Chevy pickup with 4 wheel discs and it works great, but what you said, was what was concerning me.
Do you happen to know what later would be direct boltup on the Jeep booster? Thanks, Ron |
