Fuel injection ticking sound
Just wondering.....
Can fuel injectors themselves make an audible ticking sound? If so, I'm wondering if its possible this could be mistaken for a sticky lifter or exhaust manifold leak. Thanks! Harkauto |

Re: Fuel injection ticking sound
Depending on how in tune you are, you can hear a tick coming from the injectors. But that depends on what motor you have too. Generally you probably will not hear the injectors. You can unhook the suspected injector and see if the noise goes away. Usually with an exhaust manifold leaking it will leak when it is cold and as the engine warms up the noise will go away or get quieter.

Re: Fuel injection ticking sound
Injectors can and do tick. I thought I had a lifter tick and used a screwdriver as a stethoscope and found it was in fact the injectors.

Re: Fuel injection ticking sound
On my 2001 Dakota the ticking noise I hear is very very faint and is there all the time. You really have to focus to hear it, but it is there.
Where are the fuel injectors located? |
