1999 or escort not starting

I have a 1999 ford escort that is slow turning over and now does not turn over at all. I have replaced the battery, starter, alternator and neutral safety switch Any help would be appreciated.

Re: 1999 or escort not starting

If the battery and starter are good, then something is resisting turning or there is a disconnect along the way. My initial reaction is to suspect a seized engine. To check, remove serpentine belt and put a ratchet or breaker bar on the crankshaft pulley bolt and try to turn the crankshaft. If you can't, then it may be bad news.but if you can, then the engine is not seized. Make sure the solenoid is engaging the starter, then that the starter gear is engaging the flywheel. Basically start at the battery and verify components working toward the crankshaft.

Carefully hook a jumper wire to the signal connector on the starter solenoid. Put the car in neutral ( or park if it's an automatic ) with the parking brake on.

Connect a pair of jumper cables to the battery.
Connect the jumper wire from the starter solenoid to the (+) jumper cable.

Does it crank?

Incase you're wondering, the purpose of the jumper cables is so that you don't cause a spark near the battery. That can cause battery explosions in certain situations.
