98 Blazer will not start in cold weather
It takes many tries to get her started if she been sitting an long time. Had battery checked to see if I have good output. 750 cold cranking amps. New fuel pum in 2011. I can here it switch on. A know about fuel pressure. Need to check it. I wonder if my cables are shot. The clamps are all chewed up but tight. Any help? When its above 30 its starts like a champ.

When was the last time you did a full tune up with Plugs, Wires, Cap, Rotor, Air Cleaner, and how about your Fuel Filter, was it changed in 2011 too? Any chance you have water in your fuel that is freezing?

Re: 98 Blazer will not start in cold weather
No chance on fuel freeze up, I keep it full to 1/3 of tank. I go through 3 tanks a week. I changed plugs in 11, wires in 12, distributor has a crack in it. The cap was replace in 12. Replaced 1 poppet. The crack only affects it in damp weather.
It seems to not being fuel and then it fires. Planning on having the distrisuter replaced. |

Where is the distributor cracked? Are you seeing moisture inside the cap? If the distributor housing itself is cracked, can you seal it with RTV as a temporary fix?

Re: 98 Blazer will not start in cold weather
Distributor replaced, helped in wet weather, I learned to turn the key and wait for the pump to run and stop. Pump the peddle as I turned her over and she would start in cold weather to 20 or. Today wind chills are -31 and she turns, but never fires. One other thing I notice, is the IAC maybe allowing the engine to run at a higher idle. It's either 650 or 1000. When she sticks at 1000 rpm, she is a lot harder to start. Any ideas

Turned out to be the ignition switch. If you turned it too far forward, you would not see dash lights. I now crank it to then spot where you see the dash lights and she starts.

That's great! It's always crazy when it's something that you'd never originally guess.
