Mitsubishi Lancer EVO 7 WRC

Haven't been posting a lot of pics for this build but I did get the engine kit from ModellingMaster. Waiting for it to arrive. Here goes.

Drilled out the holes in the rims, as the tire is not on the car....

Dashboard with flat on the top.

Hood cut off awaiting the engine which I was going to scratchbuild but gave up...

Interior as it sits, waiting on paint to dry

Rims and brakes turned out better than I thought they would.
c&c please as this is my first WRC car. Thanks.

Hello Kevin!
Wonderful project. Hopefully the engine will not wait very long.
Pay attention to the lights. Tamiya did not do correct. Lens only on the edge of the headlights. Inside the large diameter reflectors...

Re: Mitsubishi Lancer EVO 7 WRC

Roman, as you seem to know lot of details about the car, don't you think there is some difference between different events cars ?
I don't think lights were totally similar in Germany...

I'm wondering if it's not a specification to use night stages lightpods but I can't remember if there was a night stage in Corsica this year, especially in was run in first part of the season...

Or maybe it's just a picture angle effect and it's always the same lights...
Here is a full front pic

Here you can see well, Phil. outside lights - lens. Internal - simple reflectors.

Re: Mitsubishi Lancer EVO 7 WRC

Not much update tonight. Just detail painting, awaiting for my package in the mail. Felt like I was painting Iron Man and Iron Patriot for a while.

Also deciding on how to paint the body since there is a white strip on the bottom of the car. What is correct? the white under the side vent or over the side vent?
Thanks for the replies.

Re: Mitsubishi Lancer EVO 7 WRC

Hello!
White stripe will be right under the ventilation grilles (for Monte Carlo 2002 Version)

Re: Mitsubishi Lancer EVO 7 WRC

Now that the skyline is finished I will finish this. Didn't take a lot of pics and its almost done. First time with tire stencils also.

Not sure why but the engine gave me a few issues. It was a bit sloppy in the engine bay and some parts did not line up due to this. But it looks great when its all together and painted.

Quick Underside

Front wheel pic almost looks real

and the rear wheel

And the problem I have to figure out how to fix.

I applied the decals with decal set. cleared over the decals and the decals lifted? I've never had a problem with decal set and clear coat. I was just thinking of either using white decal paper to make new squares or doing some kind of "Accident" or wall rubbing to cover up the issue. Any ideas short of stripping and redoing with new decals?

Re: Mitsubishi Lancer EVO 7 WRC

that's some unfortunate incident there. i'm for wall-rubbing, as some accidents with dents would most likely keep most of the decal.
