Hello, I am a university student doing my masters at Keele university in the Uk. I am doing a study on the gender differences in the choice of cars and was hoping for any input that may be helpfull. I chose this website as I knew it would be filled with fans of cars from all over the globe and was hoping that ou may be of assistance. I am a car fan myself and was hoping to see what influences individuals to pick a car as I believe there is a difference that may be observed between the genders. All are welcome to contribute.

Re: What cars do ladies like compared to men??
Hello. My name is Lexi, and yes - I am female. I love cars and have for quite some time - my favorites being the 1970 Dodge Charger R/T, the 1970 Plymouth Road Runner, the 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle, and the 1971 Jensen Interceptor. If you couldn't tell, I prefer muscle cars to most things. I also am a fan of trucks and older SUV's - such as the Ford Bronco and Jeep Cherokee. I thus prefer older vehicles with high performance and/or a certain ruggedness to them.
Besides that, I would like to disagree with one thing you have said - that gender has an affect of what cars people like. Though it might be true for some, and to a degree, it is mainly advertising that is directed toward males and females that decides this. Hope this was some help |

Re: What cars do ladies like compared to men??
If you are running a survey, make your questions more specific, to start with.
There are car-chicks, like Lexi (@shadow127) above, who would go for the biggest roughest looking thing her budget would allow, from the 70's, without any objective analysis. Then there are non-car chicks, eg my girl friend, who bought a smallish new car that is manual and matched her budget because she likes the colour. It has bluetooth connectivity but nowhere safe to put her phone {0_o} Regardless of sex or sexual orientation, automotive brand awareness depends on whether you are an auto enthusiast. |

Re: What cars do ladies like compared to men??
Hey guys sorry for taking so long, its not really a survey but just needed some background informaiton on what girls prefer compared to guys . Based on what I have so far it seems being a car enthusiast is very important. What about men, are therr any specifics that come in mind when choosing a car that men look for for example the size, speed or colour?? |

Re: What cars do ladies like compared to men??
I prefer darker colours, anything from purple to maroon to dark green/blue or black, but not any grey shades. I like 1990's Nissan turbo r.w.d. cars in manual (300zx, Silvia/200sx, skyline), but also love my mother's 2004 Ford Mondeo turbo diesel as it is an excellent car.
I will be inclined to choose an excellent, driveable and usable car over outright speed/performance, within my budget. |
