heater core
I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Lou and I live in Phoenix, Az, I have been on this sight for about 9 years but at different thread. I had a '97 Old's Aurora, my experience with that sight was very positive as I know this will be also. I purchased a 2001 Chrysler 300M w/48000 miles, got the carfax to verify the car and milage. Here's my question, when I bought the car it was summer at about 114 degrees and the AC was very cold. Now that it's winter I tried the heater and no heat. I looked under the hood and saw that the heater core was bypassed. I also bought the Haynes Book, BIG JOB to change the it. Looking for some hints(if any) and does any one know much a dealer would charge to fix it? Thanks in advance for the help.

Re: heater core
OEM core is about 230.00. Labor is about 6.0hrs x whatever their labor rate is. Should try and find out if the core is leaking or plugged. If its plugged you may be able to backflush it and clear it out. If it was bypassed though, it's probably leaking.

Re: heater core
Thanks gmtech1, I was thinking the same thing but I still have to check it out. I'm going to have to figure a way using air flow and pressure. I have a little air pump with a gauge, just have to find a way to adapt it to tho heater core, any ideas!
