My honda saved my life today....
Its funny how quickly things changed in life. It can happen in a blink of an eye, before you even realized whats happend...
This morning, on a beautiful Sunday morning, I went down to my local mall to pick up some protien shakes for my workout routine from GNC. On the way back, I went my usual route at the stop light intersection at a busy 4 way. After coasting to stop I proceeded to check my rear view mirror. What I saw was nothing but a large grey grill, and thats all I remember... After a brief black out, I came to and I found the interior of my car in shambles, the money tray had flow out, my items on my seat had been thrown into the dashboard and the engine was dead. Upon getting out, I saw a large Dodge Durango had implanted itself into the rear of my Honda Accord. THe elderly lady was around 80 and on some kind of therapy and did not brake in time...and was traveling around 15mph. The lady in front of had a cell phone and called 911 immediatly. Within a few mins, a policeman drove up and secured the area away from the wreck. After dicussing what happend and transferring information, and making sure I did not need an ambulance, I managed to restart the engine start the hazard lights and limp home, along the way I could hear pieces of the car fall onto the roadway. After heading to the emergency room and rested at home for a few hours, I finally saw what had happend to my car. The force of the durango had crumbled my trunk lid inward inside the car, the rear quarter panels were buldged outwards like a V shap, and the bumper was almost completely ripped over and ripped into several places, the suspension system was lifted straight up and jacked into frame....However it had done its job, and absorbed much of the impact force from the Durango Luckily for me, my headrest was up high enough to support the force of the collision so my neck was not thrown forward. If it had not held in place, I could have easily broken my neck and possibly have been paralyzed. I have to thank Honda sincerlely for building one of the best and safest cars on the road today. Thanks to its desighners and egineers, I walked away from a seroius accident. I owe Honda my deepest gratitude and thanks... With the car totalled, you can be sure, within a few weeks, a new Honda will be on my driveway. Thank you Honda |

Alot of people don't know this, but Honda engineers design with body panels to crumble under force to absorb the impact. I rearended a saturn one time (put it on my hood) The bumper and fenders absorbed enough of the impact that the frame itself was left untouched. All i had to replace was a good, bumper, both fenders and the windshield. Good to hear you are okay, and good luck.

i know that for a fact. but the rear ends are supposed to hold. i was hit at a light, she was going 45 and i was stopped. she launched me into a 1986 beamer with a chrome bumer and fuked up my front. i looked at the back and there was a scrratch and her car was totalled to the dash.

I just got nailed by a bus last week. I was at a dead stop and the full sized bus ripped into my back quarter panel at 40 MPH. Crumpled the right rear quarter panel into the trunk ripped the back bumper off, the whole ride side of the trunk was ripped and laying on the road, both tail light assemblies removed and 30 feet down the road, exhaust crushed. But me and my friend were both fine. Thank god for good engineering.
