Dealer's had 4 attempts to fix hood. What's going on!
Last February, the semi-automatic hood on my 328i Convertible developed a slight leak where it meets the corner of the windscreen and the right-hand drivers window. I booked the car into the local BMW dealership, an enormous franchise with massive workshop facilities. When I got the car back, the leak was still there (despite what they told me) and I then discovered that the hood no longer worked properly, jamming halfway back. To cut a long story short, while refusing to admit that they broke the mechanism in the first place, they have had the car back in 4 times, with some prompting from BMW UK to whom I wrote about the problem. Each time, the hood works properly for a few uses and then jams again. After the last visit ("our top engineer will be working on it") I thought they'd got it right at last. It worked properly right through to October, when driving with the roof down is no longer pleasant (this IS England!) However, as soon as I tried to use it again this year, the same old fault has re-appeared. I've taken legal advice but they've told me that there is very little I can do from a legal perspective unless the dealer accepts that they caused the damage in the first place. BMW UK don't seem willing to go any further than making a few phone calls to the dealership. Has anyone got any suggestions on what I should do next?
