94 Ford Thunderbird 4.6...air system/electrical issue
Good evening,
I recently wired in a new CD player in my car. Prior to hard wiring the aftermarket speaker wires, I was misled to believe that a connector tucked to the left of my glovebox / behind the console was what I needed to cut and wire into. After no sound came from those wires, it was obvious one or both of us was a complete idiot, and I wired up the correct speaker wires. Now, the problems: 1. My air will not run, lights and controls are not working. The display for temp control and outside temp is blank. 2. When I disconnect all but a black connector on the far left of the back of the control, the blower runs freely at full blast. 3. I have since lost the connector I removed. Attached is a photo of the exposed wires. O e purple wire is hot, and when connected to one of the other purple, the temp control display lights up "-188e OUTSIDE TEMP". I am hoping someone might be able to tell me the correct combinations of wires to make this thing work again, or that there is a connector i can buy to rewire it together. Thanks in advance! Re: 94 Ford Thunderbird 4.6...air system/electrical issue
I doubt anyone can ID the proper connector from that information. Your best bet would be a pick-n-pull type of junkyard so you can go look for yourself and cut out what you need.

I looked at it. I skimmed the automatic HVAC schematics in Mitchells and didn't see a connector with that many purple wires in it.

If those wires all came from separate sides of an inline connector, you should be able to connect like colors together to eliminate the connector.

I tried that solution already and didn't have any luck.

also, the connector had no previous use. It must have been an option my tbird didn't come with.

As a general rule of thumb, if there is a connector that is not used, and you are wiring in speakers to locations that work, the connector you're looking for will not be one that goes nowhere. -Rod |

Yes...made a huge mistake there. A few lessons learned. Not entirely sure actually, i don't recall what they looked like going in. It actually looked like a stock connector for audio to be honest :/

Re: 94 Ford Thunderbird 4.6...air system/electrical issue
On the image below, can you point me to the location of the connector you cut? I looked at connectors related to the 1993 and 1995 climate control as well and didn't find a similar connector for the 1993 and found the same for the 1995, no black wires.
Does your car have the electronic automatic climate control? If not, where is the outside temperature reading displayed? ![]() -Rod |

Re: 94 Ford Thunderbird 4.6...air system/electrical issue
Below is the image with the location circled in red. It was between the glovebox and console, attached to the metal with a white plastic nub.
