rust?!? :(

i live in minnesota and i am going to buy a CRX, but the only thing can do is fly down to texas or something like that to find a CRX without the rust. but i would rather not do that! does anyone have any ideas on how to remove rust or estimates on how much it would cost?!? thanks in advance!

my quarter panels (infront of the rear wheels) were rusted to shit. i had them cut out, and new metal welded in. they only painted minimum, using blending technique. think it was around $900 Canadian.

If the rust is just surface rust, and isn't through the body it can be fixed by just renting/borrowing a sandblaster and go crazy with it on those spots. Sometimes they will leave small dimples in the relative area that you have done it in. These can be fixed by going to a auto parts store, getting a quart of Bondo (it can be handy to have at times) and put a thin coat on to fill the dimples. The end result looks good, is cheap and rust hasn't come back on my truck for 4 years.

I think we can all agree that rusting is a problem where ALL 4g Civic's/2g Crx's LIVE....

I have seen very few in my day that have original paint and no rust....

yeah...its so horrible here in minnesota...in order to have a car that doesn't rust you can't drive it in the winter, because when they snow plow they put down salt and then the salt gets on your car and eats it away! it sux so bad! almost every car that is 9+ years old here in minnesota has rust on it unless its been taken real good care of.
