Cool 2000 oldsmobile bravada

2000 olds bravado, 110,000 miles, 4.3 liter engine. I had an accident and had to change the radiator and condenser, I drove the car for a few day with the radiator leaking into the engine before I replaced the radiator. Now the car starts ok, but has no power, when I press the gas pedal to the floor, the rpm would go up to 3000, then it would drop slow to below 1000 rpm and the car wants to stall, release the pedal it idle ok, press pedal and it wants to stall, no engine code, engine got wet from the leaking radiator before I changed it and all the problem started from that point.

Check for a possible wet air filter or anything else restricting intake airflow.

Re: 2000 oldsmobile bravada

When I press the gas peddle it goes to 1000 rpm from about 600 at idle, and it wants to stall. release the peddle and goes back to about 600 rpm. it would not go over 1000 rpm.

Re: 2000 oldsmobile bravada

Check the fuel pressure.
Test kits are available at most chain type auto parts stores and Harbor Freight.
Here's where to connect,

Re: 2000 oldsmobile bravada

Huh, too much back pressure. Was it at all related to the radiator leak?

Re: 2000 oldsmobile bravada

Yes to much back pressure, due to the accident, with the radiator, and overheat, first the catalyst started to rattle and then no power.

Re: 2000 oldsmobile bravada

I had an inner pipe close up on my 1968 Impala.
Power kept dropping so I drilled some holes at the junction of right/left pipes and power improved. Drilled a bunch of holes and power was restored....sounded good too.
