Let's improve this forum

It would appear that we are beginning to go round in ever-decreasing circles in this forum. If we continue as we are,the politics and current affairs page will be reduced to a handful of members with hard-line views on American foreign policy just shouting insults at each other.I am sure that is not what Igor had in mind when he created this forum.

We need to bring some more subjects to the forum, the current topic is pretty much played out until there is a major development.

We also need to take a breath or two and re-read the user guidelines[yes, that includes me],while this forum will always be a place for robust and honest debate,we all still have a responsibility to keep a reasonably civil tongue in our heads, and not allow our politics to spill over into the tech forums.

Let's build this into a place where all AF members can come for an interesting read.Regardless of what side of the political coin you prefer,I think you could agree that this forum could be better.

I hope that we can continue the relatively relaxed level of moderating that has been in place in this forum. There are times when I have considered posts from both extremes of the debate to have over-stepped the boundaries, but I for one have been reluctant to delete them lest people consider it to be misuse of moderator tools in the debate. If anybody using this forum puts their argument forward in a manner that you find offensive, please use the 'report this post' link.Be advised, though, that holding an alternative view is not in itself grounds for complaint.

Well.....this is turning into a rather long post.If anyone has any ideas on how we can improve this forum, please feel free to post them in this thread.

Come to a forum consensus about what is news and what is propoganda.

I think that would be next to impossible, while many of us accept certain news agencies to be rife with propaganda, others will maintain they are the only reliable sources.

Taranaki, I agree wholeheartedly. I myself have been the offending party in a few threads, and I think I could have prevented many of these incidents by walking away...

That is true.

Heres an idea. We could start debates on religion. Those never cause any strife. :finger:
