3.8L with oil pressure sender problems

The car is a 2005 LaSabre with a 3.8L. When cold, it starts and the digital oil pressure will read 0 psi., then suddenly jump to 130. After warming up, it stays at a steady 130 psi at all rpms. I have decided to replace the oil pressure sender. I checked the codes with an OBD II unit....no codes.

The new one from NAPA was a three wire sender and looks very similar to the old one. The one mounted on the car is a one wire sender. The NAPA store says they have doubled checked the book and it's supposed to be a three wire unit.

I located the one-wire unit on the passenger side of the engine looking up from under the car, near the filter. Are there two senders for oil pressure, one for the idiot light and one for the digital readout? Am I looking at the wrong sender?

Also, is 130 psi the correct reading for this engine. Seems really high to me. I'm used to pressures like 60-90.

Thanks Heaps ! bstrom1953

Re: 3.8L with oil pressure sender problems

Replaced the sensor, 130 psi is NOT normal. Sensor was defective. Car runs fine. Thanks.
