What's the difference between a Jeep and a Land Cruiser?

Is the Land Cruiser a Jeep itself?

The classic Land cruiser is made by Toyota and has an aluminum body for starters. Later models are still Toyota but are no longer aluminum.
Jeep is a brand whose parent companies have been AMC, Chrysler corporation, Daimler Chrysler, and I'm not sure who owns them since Daimler sold their share of chrysler/dodge to Fiat. Jeep is a brand, like Chevrolet, ford, etc. most people think of the willies or wrangler when people say jeep.
They (until the mid90's) are both very very capable all terrain vehicles. Wranglers are much much easier to find parts for and modify.

And a land cruiser is in no way a form of jeep. Jeep is a brand, land cruiser is a specific model made by Toyota. Cherokee, wrangler, renegade, Comanche, willies, grand Cherokee...THESE are forms of jeeps.

To think that jeep is a style is ridiculous.
SUV or sport ute is a style. Jeep is a licensed company name. The name jeep is derived from its original title. AMC made made a vehicle for the mitary who called it the General Purpose vehicle. General Purpose was shortened by personnel to GP (pronounced jeep).
My blazer is a blazer, not a gmc jeep. My bronco is a bronco, not a ford jeep.
Why not go to a Mercedes dealer and ask them if you test drive the Mercedes yugo, or a how about a Bugatti dealer and ask to drive a chevette. Jeep is a name. Not a type.

Both have their pros and cons. Me and probably everyone can suggest that Land cruiser is better than Jeep. But the bottom line is that you have to choose what vehicle you need and what makes you feel happy..
