98 overdrive
I have a 1998 ford mustang v6 automatic with 79k. I've owned it for 8 years and it has always shifted odd into overdrive. If I take my foot off the gas it will go into overdrive but not the smoothest. Should I start with a fluid flush? It shifts great through all other gears.
Thanks, Derek |

Re: 98 overdrive
Don't do a fluid flush. This is a high profit "service" of dubious effectiveness that mechanics like to push, simply because its profitable.
What you should do is a proper transmission service, where the fluid pan is removed and cleaned out, the filter replaced, pan reinstalled and new fluid added. This is roughly equal to an oil-and-filter change for your engine. It may not improve the function of your shifting, but is an important maintenance item to ensure proper transmission function and longevity. |
