ford AX4S tranny problems

Have only 78K miles on rebuilt and now i am experiencing a jerking -missing
issue especially when accelerating or uphill driving, I have no codes that are set and no O/D blinking. It sure acts like a motor miss (electrical) and or fuel problem, just driving a constant speed it drives ok it seems to possibly occur at the 40-50 rpm. no i have not yet taken it to a tranny station to have it scanned
I just want some foresight on the issue from you tech guys as i repaired and fixed many problems with this Auto Forums web site.(po171-po174 as an example) i'm wondering if any other sensor could be the problem. I think I know the obvious but still have wishful thinking.

Re: ford AX4S tranny problems

what year van? 78k (as in 78,000 miles) since rebuild? That's a fair number of miles - sad to say I know. Have you confirmed that the fluid is completely full? The dipstick is a bit misleading and if you're driving uphill with a miss you may just be faced with a low fluid level condition. When was the last trans service done? What sort of warranty was with the rebuild?

Re: ford AX4S tranny problems

Try reading the OBDII codes.....MANY transmission faults can show up in the OBDII code set that you can read same as you do the P0171 / P0174 type codes.
If you have them read for you....make SURE to ask for the actual numeric codes.
I ran into strange transmission issues while on a trip......code reader brought up the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) as the cause of my problem.
In short....a quick code read might speed you to a diagnosis.......no guarantee that you will like it, but at least you will know.
