99 Ranger Outer Steering Column Boot
The steering gear lower column shaft boot in my '99 Ford Ranger is deteriorated and I wish to replace it before dirt and crud gets into the knuckle which connects the column with the steering gear. The information in my Ranger repair manuals were somewhat vague. Can anyone describe to me how to replace the boot. visually it seemed pretty simple.

Re: 99 Ranger Outer Steering Column Boot
This is a follow up on my previous thread just in case anyone is faced with the same problem. The boot in question cannot be replaced by itself. It comes as part of an assembly called the lower steering shaft. It is simple to replace but the unit costs over three hundred bucks and only available from the dealer. Nothing wrong with my assembly except the cracked boot. So what I did was simply patch up the cracks around the boot with black adhesive sealant to keep dirt and grime from getting to the knuckle.
