Ford Sierra RS Cosworth - Marlboro

Sixth model finished this year. Used the Tamiya model with Renaissance transkit and decals from DMC.

Great looking model, too bad you do not show pictures with a better background.

Congrats for finishing 6 models this year!

The new pics make it look even better.

Re: Ford Sierra RS Cosworth - Marlboro

Very nice model, but what a pity you didn't use the correct red color...
It has to be fluo red, not red... But I know unfortunately most of the buildings instructions are false giving inaccurate red color reference...!!
I built this one in 1/43 some years ago and had to verify a lot of pics to be sure, as not all the pics reveal the same color depending on light and shadows, probably the reason why almost all brands did misleading building instrcutions...

Phil, i'm glad you like the model. I knew it was Fluo Red, but I couldn't find this color here. I hope the red color is not so bad

Thanks for your answer
oh yes I like it very much, I can understand your paint issues and how frustrating it can be when you can't build it as you would like to, but don't worry, more than "not so bad" it's very good !! Like I said most of the brands and a lot of builders used classic red.
And you know how maniac I am...
Probably one of the reasons why I even didn't finish a single model in six years when you built 6 in the current year !!

Just a remark about the colour. I saw that car running in several rallyes, and I can say that the real colour of this red was no fluo. In Spain, Marlboro wasn't fluo in those years. They (Marlboro) decided to have a more red colour like the spanish red colour. In fact, several years before, when the Delta S4 run in the spanish gravel championship, the red was a fluo one, but not with the Sierra/Sainz car. So from my point of view (and a lot of people in Spain), your color is ok, Denilson. It can be more orange, but not fluo.

Just an example:

I'm sorry but I totally disagree with your point of view and the one of a lot of spanish people (which is the same that the one of brands having released same wrong color information BTW !! ), spanish cars you saw racing were perhaps classic red (they were indeed different, see exhaust...?! Or this is an inaccuracy on Denilson's build... I can't be sure for 87 corsica Sainz car side exhaust and also see sideskirts - spanish championship car was different !) but the car driven by Sainz in 87 Corsica (so not several years before the S4 but only ONE YEAR before if not same year as I think the S4 Marlboro sponsored also raced in 87...) which is the one depicted in Denilson build is fluo red without any doubt to me even if pics don't inevitably always prove it.

http://images.forum-auto.com/mesimag...inzCorse87.jpg

last pic which has totally different light seems to validate classic red... but take a look at the other ones...?!

That said what I call fluo red is the effectively orange looking red tone like named by tamiya, don't know what you think about if not fluo when orange looking red , it's to me the same color that the one used by Roman on the Nissan 240 RS safari so maybe in fact we're talking about the same one, but I doubt as you say that color of the build is correct...

The Sierra color debate has been alive on french forums for years, 99% of people could have sweared it was red, but people living there in Corsica confirmed the fluo red tone color like Nissan one (especially one having been a marshal on the event)
Problem is that most of the pics seem to show a classic red.

take a look as this other one from my hard drive, same car, same rally, but two different light conditions...

doesn't top pic seem to show fluo red tone while bottom one seems to show classic red tone...?

As a reference you can take a look at the rally door plate red which is classic red, on the top pic you can see the body color is different...
Believe me, even if you seem to be sure and have references (memories) from Spain cars, TdC car was fluo red !

So except if all my references are misleading, if Corsican people having given their opinion from "live" experience during the rally are misleading too, I keep assuming this was fluo red like tamiya TS referenced.

Re: Ford Sierra RS Cosworth - Marlboro

Very impressive model. I keep wanting to do a sierra, but they are too expensive on eBay. Hopefully tamiya will re release it.

The red looks close enough to me. We can't all get perfect colour matched paints and have to make compromises somewhere.
