94 3.8L engine replacement procedure

The Haynes service manual recommends dropping the entire engine/transaxle/front end away from the chassis to replace the 3800 engine. Lifting the front of the entire chassis to roll out the front drive assembly seems like a pretty big job for the average home DIY guy, but I suppose we could handle it using the front bucket on our backhoe....

I also have a 2-ton roll-around engine lift. Is it possible to remove the grill and front bumper and then lift the engine/transaxle assembly out from the top/front without raising the chassis? You know, like we always did engine replacements in the olden days?

Anyway, any comments and/or advice from those more experienced with these modern vehicles would be appreciated. Thanks!

Re: 94 3.8L engine replacement procedure

Thanks for the reply and the links.

Unfortunately, none of the links will open for me -- a "Server not available" error occurs regardless of which link I click on.

The links look like they're from a Canadian website. Do I need to join that forum in order to see them?

Any help you can provide would be appreciated.

Thanks again!

NO..they are directly accessible normally. Maybe my website host had temporarily halted service...they all work without problem from here... I've relabelled the complete addresses above in hoping you can reach them...otherwise, I could send the files in an e-mail to you.

All of the files opened with no problems tonight. Thanks for your help!

I don't believe in miracles either...but sometimes helpful angels (like you) appear when you need them.

I believe we can call my question answered. Thanks again!
