Red Bull RB6 (Vettel)

Hi guys,

It's been a while since I last did a F1 car. This is my latest F1 work that is Red Bull RB6. I know that there's someone who has started it but then, I would like to show how I did my work though I wouldn't be placing details as I'm still lacking skills in F1 kits.

Before I did the work, I had put up a topic in the forum before about the alternate colour scheme. Here is the link :
http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...75#post7018075

It's hard to order spray paints in my country cause not many people are into modeling & it so happened that the supplier has finished off selling TS89 which is recommended by the kit itself.

I happened to follow Lesley's (eyckles) suggestion on my thread above, so here is the photo of the experiment I've made. The parts I used are unused MotoGP Tamiya parts. Top part I sprayed TS29 as base colour & sprayed with TS51. The bottom part I sprayed TS29 like the above & sprayed with TS50 to tryout.

My first part of work is to colour the monocoque, the headrest & the ventilation hole (I might be wrong as I'm not well versed with F1 parts). First thing I did is to spray with TS29 then later on TS51. Here are the results.

I wish that Tamiya comes up with the masking tape for it cause I would say not everyone is good at masking though. If you notice it, you can see a dark blue patch on the part where the yellow part should be painted along with the 'bleeding' at another side.

Here are the photos of the seat along with some work on the monocoque. The seat took me a while to work on as I used photo etched parts for the seat belt & I work on the unbuckled version. After a long paint on the interior part of the monocoque with X18 (Took me almost half hour to paint it) & some patience with the work, that's the result of the monocoque work.

I would like to thank Lesley (eyckles) for the suggestion & I will continue the work on the kit tomorrow.

Re: Red Bull RB6 (Vettel)

Happy new year, guys.

Since yesterday, I continued my work on the current project. Here are the photos of the engine.

After more work on the engine, here are the photos with more parts attached.

Attaching the engine on the underpanel, took me a while to do some part of the carbon sticker provided by the kit.

Here are photo of the front wing after spraying TS29 as base coat & later on TS51. Not sure if that part is Vettel's or Webber's. Now confused between the two as I didn't pay attention to the instruction sheet. Please let me know if the part is Vettel's or Webber's.

Looks like I have to spray on the nose again by looking at the monocoque & the nose colouring tone, the nose looks brighter than the monocoque.

This is my work so far....

Will continue to work on the kit on the new year day.

Happy New Year, everybody

Buon Anno Nuovo

Re: Red Bull RB6 (Vettel)

The almost complete work along with the rear wing except for the part where I haven't placed the p/e on the front wing as I had difficulty dealing with them...

Here are the photos of the completed model in different angles. I did not put the 2 antennas as I couldn't find the spot after placing the decal...

Well, I gotta admit that it's was a little harder than I thought when I made this kit as I'm still not yet experienced in F1 modeling. Anyway, I'll try to improve from what I found out & learned & improve the work on the next F1 kit.

Re: Red Bull RB6 (Vettel)

Hi Adrian!
I'm also working on this kit! Yours looks great!
I've never worked with Tamiya PE Seatbelt parts before, and I wondered if you would be willing to explain to me a little about how the *straps* work...did you cut them out, and fold them over? Did you have any trouble making them look good? Is there anything you would suggest to me when I try to assemble the seatbelt pieces? I'm going to use the *fastened* version...
Anyway, I know it's been awhile since you posted on this thread, but I hope you will get this notice and maybe I could ask for your advice on this beautiful kit...
Thanks!
David

Hi David.

Thanks for the comment.

For the seat belt, first of all, cut within the line, & then fold it over. But be a little careful on that as it's in the form of thin tape, it might tear a little if not done carefully. Otherwise, it wouldn't be hard to do so. Hope that can help you.

Thanks!
So, cut out the vinyl and fold the EDGES over, so the white of the edges is not visible?
Also, did you use the tire decals, or did you use the tire stencil and airbrush the lettering on the sidewalls?

Yes, that's correct.

As for the tire, I used the decal as I do not have airbrush.
