paint match & junk yard parts

I banged up my silver 2000 audi a4 and will be grabbing a front bumper, hood, and fender from either a local parts car or junkyards. My question is if the replacement parts are a color other than silver will the paint matching cost more at the body shop? My thinking is that if I get silver parts they will just have to add coats matched to the rest of the car and not have to sand and primer.

Re: paint match & junk yard parts

Anytime a part is painted, it will need to be properly prepped, which includes sanding. If not sanded, the paint will not stick. If the used parts are the same color as the car, then you may be able to install them without painting. However, if a shop needs to paint them, the cost will probably be the same. Hope this helps
