2004 Fuel Gauge and Dome Light

I just bought an 04 ZR2 and noticed a problem with the operation of the dome light. When in "off" the light is off. When in "on" the light comes on. But the center "auto" position does not work properly. The light doesn't come on automatically with the doors open. Fuse issue? Wiring issue?

Also, the fuel gauge appears to be working and giving an accurate reading, however, when I turn the key off the gauge doesn't go to "E". It stays where it was at. I am not used to this. Is this normal?
