Lincoln steering
I have a 2000 ls V8 and it likes to wander all over the road. Had a 4 wheel alignment done all the wheels balanced tire pressure checked and it still goes all over the road. I was wondering if it could be the speed sensing steering in fail safe mode. No codes in it so I have no idea what to fix or look for need some help please.

Re: Lincoln steering
Are you sure there are no worn steering/suspension parts?
If you have variable assist steering and it has a failed sensor causing it to go full assist when it should not, it will have a loose/wandering feel to it. |

Re: Lincoln steering
Is there a way to check if the variable assist steering is working properly? When i had the alignment done they told me that everything was all good with the steering and suspension.

Re: Lincoln steering
You could unplug the connector for the variable assist. The steering feel will be quite heavy with the VAPS unplugged, but that should help give you an idea as to if the VAPS is over-boosting. The sensor is mounted very near the rack on the driver's side. You'll likely need to jack the car up, safely support it, and get to it from underneath or through the wheel well.
