heller model kits.

just a simple question:
from what i gather the Heller kit of the ferrari 512S has an engine in it and it looks like that it is, along with the re-boxes of this kit, the only one of the 512S bar the MFH kits with engine detail.

is this true for their porsche 917 kits as well, or are MFH 917s the only way to go if i want a full detail 917?

thanks.

Re: heller model kits.

Heller's 917 engine is workable, but I think Historic Racing Miniature's 917 engine kit is a better option.

Re: heller model kits.

HRM engine in the Fujimi kit looks like a way better option. The Union/Heller kit has very sparse engine detail.

probably less known, but the Heller toolings were also used for a Protar 512.

Re: heller model kits.

I want to build my Heller Bentley Blower, but somehow lost the air intake, part #65. I tried HLJ, but the earthquake closed down their parts department. Anybody know where I might find a replacement part?

Re: heller model kits.

guys we are talking of models of at least 30 yrs ago.
heller 512 has engine, but detail well it is a challenge.

imho better search something "fresher" around.

Re: heller model kits.

Wow this thread is pretty old. Just a reminder, the Fujimi 917 front window and cockpit are almost a half foot to wide to scale. The Heller front window and cockpit are correct. The Profil 24, Lemans Miniatures, Hiro and Fisher kits are also correct. Another major Fujimi screw up. Most of you did not notice this???

That's what I ended up doing on one of my 917's. You have to cut down the Fujimi tub to fit wich requires some surgery. I also used clear plastic sheet for the windows as I hate the look of molded plastic windows.

On the 512S, get the Fisher kit unless you want an engine. The Fisher body is alot better than the Hiro body and many times better than the Heller although it is the open version.
