1962 289 AC Cobra

I was just watching my DVR recording of “What’s My Car Worth” and this Cobra was featured. It’s the first red cobra I’ve ever seen that I’ve really liked. As I watched the program I pulled out my AMT kit and saw that the kit replicates this car almost perfectly.

Since it's the 50th anniversary of the Cobra this year I thought it might be fun to add the AMT Cobra to my pile of kits that I want to build this year. A couple of things though. Did anyone ever do any photoetch for this kit? As far as I know, neither Model Car Garage or Detail Master ever did anything. How about decals? Decals for the Cobra emblems would be helpful.

Also, can anyone suggest a red that would replicate the red shown on the car? I've thought Ford poppy Red, but I don't think that was used until the Mustang came out.

I appreciate any/all suggestions.

Re: 1962 289 AC Cobra

The Revell 427 kit has the cobra emblems, which should do the job

EDIT: Oh actually, on further inspection of the link I see these are the earlier logos. Sorry :/

A good match for the colour to me would be Ford "Radiant Red".

Excellent set of pictures, your build will be spectacular if you can get it to look like this beauty .

Exclamation AC Cobra 50th celebration overalls

Check out the 50th AC Cobra celebration overalls first worn at the 2012 Goodwood Revival. At £60 each (plus p&p) they're a bargain. Check out attached or see link below on page 47 of the December 2012 edition.
