Question SHORTCUT?? CHANGING HEATING CORE 93 TransSport

It looks and sounds like changing the heater core in the 93 TransSport will be one of those long arduous under dash dismantling operations? I might sound foolish again but has anyone ever heard of surgically removing this core by cutting into the 'big black coffin' using a dremmel tool (maybe even from under the hood)? I don't care about looks or perfection here; I simply want to shave a bunch of those hours off of climbing around under there. I haven't taken a real good look at the actual layout possibilities yet but if it looks half feasible, I could do exploratory surgery on a Pick Yer Part victim first; I have to go down there anyway for the other parts

UPDATE: I looked at the van. It doesn't look like there is much if any chance of a shortcut. I will wait until the core gets bad before I start dismantling under the passenger dash. I don't have a heated garage here.

There are a number of threads already started on the core change. Here are a few links:

I will try those potential shortcuts mentioned in your links i.e. cutting the bracket etc. I will post everything I come up with. I am going to procrastinate for as long as possible though Automotive Forums is a very useful tool! Thanks.
