Genesis factory visit to collect a LE Driving Ambition...

This was a little something from someone I met. Some of you may have already seen this, but for those of you who have not........soak it up

http://mob.watchprosite.com/show-for...ti-646856/s-0/

One little detail I noticed is a line at the end where it says the Owners Edition is Connolly Leather and the rest are leather-like. Just thought I'd clarify that for future reference for all of those future F1 enthusiasts who have yet to discover their passion for the F1 who may also want this book someday. They are all leather bound. Owners Edition with Connolly Leather (same as the F1 seats) and the rest are Nubuck, a top quality leather, the closest thing to Connolly at least in texture. But the clamshell box for all books in total received the Connolly Hide.

No go on the chassis number. McLaren keeps those details hidden away.

Interesting link

in the back of a pic, I believe we can see #018.

The car you ask seems to be black and could be #006 during his refit.

Re: Books on the Mclaren - Which ones to get and why

The color is not far off of #020 which would be my first guess, especially with the caption referencing mileage. That car is getting far more than a complete service would entail though. I am sure McLaren don't generally strip the interior in that process.

Can you also try to find out where he got that sweater?

Re: Books on the Mclaren - Which ones to get and why

Actually just putting a date to his visit to the factory would be interesting. My guess is that given #018's condition in that shot that his visit was around 2000 maybe.

There are a couple of cars that are seen only in glimpses in his shots so if he has any other photos he didn't host with his story they would be great to see.

That was sort of my thought too, but that would put the date of his visit a little later I think.

Re: Books on the Mclaren - Which ones to get and why

I would guess at late April 2001 judging by the state of the rear inner arch modifications and re-trim state. I think this is post paint seeing the transeal on the bodywork but the colours don't seem quite right...
I note XP5 is pre re-trim as well.

Re: Books on the Mclaren - Which ones to get and why

Looking at some of my reference pics of #020's underside, it does bear a striking resemblance....

First thought when I see this picture it's an early picture of a Brunei LM when the striping wasn't finished, but the LM's miss the air inlet beside wing pilor what this one has.
#020 is a darker color
#018 (almost) the same colour as in the picture
I think itsn't a GTR, searched all my GTR pics, but none has the combination of the red reflector down-position and the air inlets, therefore I think it's a converted road car.

#018

#020 detail

The car in the background of that picture is #018; the other car with the major work being done on it seems to be #020
