S27 Castrol Supra 2001 JGTC

I started this yesterday and spent the bulk of the day cleaning up metal parts and installing pieces on the exterior of the body.
The air cooling hoses cleaned up very well as did the wheels. I have included a picture that shows what they started like and mid polishing along with the final assembly which gets painted white.

Re: S27 Castrol Supra 2001 JGTC

Some painting and assembly are done. The lack of locator pins can make assembly a challenge. The wheels painted and are going to look good. I have no idea what S27 was thinking with the seatbelts.
The brakes need some toning down and a little color on the discs.

Thanks Trevor.
Looks like I really stepped into it on this one. I was wondering why I had never seen one of these built. I had the colors all painted and started to decal when my question was answered. Studio 27 supplied the entire back red section as a decal. The decal does not fit. in order to line up the pillar the back does not work. lining up either the back or the pillar wont work anyway since the red and green dots are so far out of proportion that they go down on the flat sill and over when they should stop at the bottom of the door. My attempt so far have been mixed in painting the scheme. You can see my best attempt so far but I will be sanding this down and starting again tomorrow.

The completed car is a diecast.

Re: S27 Castrol Supra 2001 JGTC

I think I figured my way out of the problem. I took a sheet of clear decal and painted half white and half red. I designed the little dots I need and printed many times what is needed so I would have plenty if they were damaged. I will do the same with the green dots. The rough edges are where the cutter went through the paper and roughed them up. I tried a few and they seem to release well and are very clean and well defined.

Car was stripped and repainted. Home made decals are started and I think this is going to work.

Re: S27 Castrol Supra 2001 JGTC

This one is really beating me up. I am going to have to clean up the line between red and green just behind the door and a little green and white on the dots near the fender well.

Re: S27 Castrol Supra 2001 JGTC

It's looking good. The wrok you have done is impressive but shouldn't the spots on the lower front fender be green instead of red? Or is the decal placment sheet wrong?

Hi Rob,
The decal placement sheet is wrong. The right side had red under the door and red onthe fender. The left is green under the door and green on the fender. The sheet has the correct color decals. The decals are now old and I don't think printed by cartograf. The first one cracked and went into many pieces so I have applied several layers of liquid decal film to the sheet.

Re: S27 Castrol Supra 2001 JGTC

I am beginning to feel better about this one. The decals are about 1/2 done and the major problems seem to be over.
