97 4.0 4x4 engine turns over but sometimes wont start

I have a 97 4.0 and it turns over but sometimes takes 2-3 minutes of cranking to finally start. I replaced the battery, same problem. I took it to a shop and of course the day they had it it started fine. They said the fuel pressure was good, and the computer they hooked it up to showed no problem. Any ideas?

Sometimes i need to hit the accelerator right when i crank it over to help. Would this be the fuel pump? I replaced the whole sending unit ii the gas tank about 6 years ago to fix the fuel level to show 0n the gauge. Is there another pump?
