97 cav/sunfire cam shaft sensor removal
hi
i wanna take out the cam shaft sensor out of my 97 cav and put it in my 97 sunfire so far i cant get it out i guessing one its the one with the long bolt well its a stud but when u turn out the nut the whole shaft comes out so i working from the top from the passanger side i get my arm down in there and i got the bolt out but i cant get the sensor out how you pull it out i tried a chisel under the lip where the bolt went through but doing it blind as u cant see in the engine there is hard what you need to do to break it free from the rubber seal? is there a special tool to loosen it? or is that crank shaft sensor i trying to get off that has that long bolt as i wanna get the cam shaft sensor off |

Re: 97 cav/sunfire cam shaft sensor removal
its the 2.2 and i found through other pics the cam shaft sensor is higher up and i got it out
but the one with the long threaded stud must be the crank shaft and on my sisters 2000 sunfire i had to screw a i bolt into it and pulled it out with my backhoe why are crankshaft sensors hard to pull out? are there tools for them to loose it up |

Re: 97 cav/sunfire cam shaft sensor removal
so i replaced the cam sensor out of a 97 cav and a 98 sunfire into this 97 sunfire
and still doesnt fire reason why i say cam shaft sensor as the obd diagnostic tool told me it was that but when turning over it sounds so quite so i figure maybe timing belt blown? how could u tell i did hook up compression testor and im gettin like 35psi on least one of the cylinders i wanted to make sure engine wasnt broken so what do i test now? |

Re: 97 cav/sunfire cam shaft sensor removal
compression is to low ck the other cylinders
sounds like a timing chain problem and that would give you the cam sensor code because the cam is not turning. pull valve cover and see if the rockers are moving when cranking if not bad chain |

Re: 97 cav/sunfire cam shaft sensor removal

Re: 97 cav/sunfire cam shaft sensor removal
didnt bother testing other clyinders i did take valve cover off and the valves not moving
so guess belt blown how u fix that? so guessing with the low compression that means the valves partly open then |
